My Guurl Erykah took it to the streets & proves a great point about how conservative America is.
It's fine for parents to not monitor the content their kids watch on TV, violence, sex, cursing etc... & I'm sure loads of people have no problem with watching indigenous peoples naked on the nature channels & it's widely accepted that Brazilian Woman go topless @ their beaches in Brazil.... yet, STILL America has a problem with nudity in even the most artistic & graceful ways.
The fact that people were afraid for the children that saw her wonderfully curvaceous body is a testament to our societal shame in our own human form & beauty.
Undeniably, with 4 Grammy's under her belt, & an affirmation in a letter from her father stating, "Badu in Arabic means truth and light..." it's pretty obvious that she is not afraid to show her TRUTH & LIGHT to the world & in my opinion, succeeds in creating the discourse we truly need to have.
Don't be ashamed of our natural bodies, be ashamed in how much terror, destruction & violence, the United States has inflicted on the world in the shortest amount of time in the history of the planet.
What is valued in society is not always what is needed & vice versa.
I did some shows with these folks in Sydney back in 1996 when I was touring & performing with Meta Bass & Breath in Australia. Way cool peeps, big shout out to Seb & Sub Bass Snarl who made all the introductions to the Clan, I felt right at home as if I was performing at one of the Sound Lab Cultural Alchemy events or Floating Point Unit parties of the same year/s.

As you all should know by now, Haiti has been hit by one of the most concentrated & deeply distructive natural disasters in the history of planet earth.
it is very hard for me to imagine that this has not affected everyone everywhere. I have a friend that is Haitian here in the Bronx & she has not been able to get in touch with her family in Haiti, & they are still missing. Whole families are gone, there are 10's of thousands of people missing & dead.
Almost 50% of Haiti's population are children.
